A Home Away From Home

Dear Friends,

I'm writing today because I know you care about the families who spend time here at Hospeace House.

I wanted to share a letter of gratitude from one of these families with you— and to ask for your continued support. We rely on the generosity of our community to create a home-away-from-home for the families of residents like Queen Di, as she was lovingly known.

LJ began:

“…a heartfelt thanks for the amazing care you provided to my mother during her time there. Within just a few days, my mom felt as much at home at Hospeace House as we could have ever hoped for.

This was due to the incredible level of care, comfort, and round-the-clock attention every staff member paid to my mom to ensure she felt loved and special.

This care went beyond her physical needs… It was the emotional care every staff member paid to her throughout the day and night ….looking through photos, watching “Wheel of Fortune,” playing card games, or joking around with her… she basked in the glow of the attention and care…”

At Hospeace House we support, nurture, and guide residents and their families along the end-of-life journey. Beyond answering questions and providing resources, the Hospeace House community listens to the needs and desires of each family.

As LJ shares:

“There were countless small, but meaningful moments – like Jessica sitting with her to visit and snuggle, even when she was not even scheduled to be at Hospeace House, or Dahl playing Rummy with me and Mom (it was the last game she ever played and she still won – LOL).

On her final day, Marie gently wiped her face, neck, and hands with a warm cloth and then encouraged the family to prepare her morning coffee for her… These small gestures meant so much to her and so much to her family.”

Your support enables the staff to provide material, physical, and emotional support during the end-of-life process, and grief support for the family.

“After my mom passed, the emotional care continued, but this time with me, my sister, and family… In those hours following my mom’s passing Jessica and Boo comforted us with tearful hugs, holding of hands, and gentle remembering of my mom. I can’t tell you how much that meant to us."

"All of this took place under the guidance and care of Jenn, who is one of the most incredible human beings… In addition to carefully and strategically navigating a broken health care system in the middle of a pandemic, Jenn never wavered for a moment in securing a place for our mother at Hospeace House and then ensured every physical and emotional need of my mom was not just met but was exceeded in every possible way.”
"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all that you did for my mom and my family at Hospeace House and all that you will continue to do for others."

Your continued generosity is THE ONE THING that keeps our doors open. Hospeace House is 100% COMMUNITY- FUNDED. Your kind donations are our sole source of income.

Your donation today, made by check or online at Hospeacehouse.org, will go directly toward caring for friends and neighbors during their final days.

P.S. Please consider joining our compassionate group of monthly donors. Monthly gifts are the backbone of our sustainability.
